My Design Philosophy
To me a landscape is like an empty canvas... just waiting to be made beautiful!
Before my degree in Landscape Architecture I studied drawing and painting, and I feel this art background enables me to design spaces that are rich in detail and creative expression.
In my designs I attempt to further a sense of community and heritage, while understanding the surrounding natural environment to create special places for people to gather. I pay close attention to details to create interest, and work with color, texture, composition and line to create sensory spaces.
* I feel that every site is unique in character and must be carefully examined before designing, and I always try to work with the land rather than against it.
* I try to preserve and enhance the beauty of natural habitats for future generations to enjoy, and strive to use plants that are compatible with the project's region and climate and can benefit the ecology of a place.
* I attempt to incorporate sustainable and vernacular materials wherever feasible within a project to create low impact designs that fit to a particular site.
